The second meeting of the expert working group will be held from 29 to 31 May 2014 in Jakarta, Indonesia. The expert working group is expected to elaborate and implement actions on initial short-term work items for the implementation of environmentally sound management, and consider its draft work programme for additional priorities and key work items and actions.
The Parties to the Basel Convention at their 11th meeting mandated the expert working group as part of follow-up to the Indonesian-Swiss country-led initiative to improve the effectiveness of the Convention.

Since April 2014, Kerstin has served as Executive Secretary ad interim of the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions.
Kerstin joined the Secretariat as Deputy Executive Secretary of the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions in November 2012.

At its eleventh meeting, the Conference of the Parties to the Basel Convention elected a new Bureau and members of subsidiary bodies under the Convention. An update on the election of officers and members of bodies under the Convention is now available.
