Basel Convention Regional Centre for Training and Technology Transfer for the South American Region, Argentina (BCRC Argentina)

Date of establishment: July 2005 (Framework Agreement). More

BC-III/19 the Conference of the Parties of the Basel Convention in 1995, selected Argentina as a site to establish BCRC for South America sub-region. This resulted to the establishment of BCRC Argentina in 2002. However only in 2005 a Framework Agreement for its establishment was signed.

Hosted by: The Government of Argentina and located in the Instituto Nacional de Tecnología Industrial (INTI)

Parties served: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela.

Expertise: ESM of electronic waste, combating illegal traffic on waste.
