At its fifth meeting, the expert working group on environmentally sound management agreed on a timeline to revise and finalise the draft practical manuals and fact sheets based on comments received. The two new draft practical manuals on financing and extended producer responsibility were further developed. The group also continued the development of the draft guidance on prevention and minimization and considered the possibility to submit the document to the thirteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties for adoption. Another main outcome of the meeting was the development of a draft ESM self-assessment checklist, which the group agreed to further elaborate intersessionally. Finally, the expert working group agreed on a procedure to call for expressions of interest and select new pilot projects to test the implementation of the practical manuals and fact sheets developed by the group.
