The Conference of the Parties at its eighth meeting noted that not all of the data on transboundary movements of hazardous wastes and other wastes contained in some of the completed revised questionnaires, transmitted by Parties to the Secretariat, pursuant to Article 13, paragraph 3, were complete or comparable. Therefore by adopting Decision VIII/14, it instructed the Secretariat, among other things, to assist Parties to improve the comparability of their data on the transboundary movements of hazardous wastes and other wastes.
Data reported by Parties on transboundary movements of hazardous wastes and other wastes may not be always comparable due to various reasons such as differences in national definitions, waste classifications, data collection methods, etc. However, to identify datasets that may not be comparable, the Secretariat has compared the data on transboundary movements of hazardous wastes and other wastes, as reported by exporting and importing Parties, for the year 2004, and has prepared country specific files containing such datasets.
By clicking on the above links, a Party could access its respective files to find what and how other Parties are reporting about its export and import data on hazardous wastes and other wastes. The username and Password required for accessing these datasets are same as those used for accessing the pre-filled questionnaires.
These files are made available for information purpose only. The Secretariat believes that Parties could use these datasets to identify what could be the possible reasons for reporting data that is not comparable and to explore ways of minimizing reporting of such data.
