A third call for proposals for pilot projects under the PWP was issued in January 2025, with a deadline in April 2025.
Key facts
- 12 pilot projects were selected under the third call for proposals, subject to the availability of funding (see here for overview of the projects). Further information on the selection process is available below.
- The projects will be implemented in 15 countries in Asia and the Pacific, Africa, Eastern Europe and Latin America and the Caribbean.
- Budgets range from USD 50,000 to 470,000.
- Duration: 12-24 months.
- Funded by the governments of Germany and Norway.
- Implementation of 10 of the projects will proceed over the coming 6 months. The Secretariat still seeks funding for the implementation of two of the selected projects.
Implementing partners
As per the modalities , the pilot projects selected will be implemented by Parties to the Basel Convention, Basel and Stockholm Convention Regional and Coordinating Centres and not-for-profit entities.
Selection process
The third call for pilot project proposals was launched in January 2025. The proposals received were systematically assessed by the steering group (comprised of the co-chairs of the PWP working group and project groups) using the template included in the modalities. Based on the completed assessment, the steering group selected and prioritized 12 pilot projects, taking into account the financial resources available.
