Regional workshop on E-waste Amendments for the Eastern Europe Regional region

Bratislava, Slovakia from 03 to 05 March 2026

Highlights: A face-to-face Regional Workshop on E-waste Amendments for countries in the Eastern European region is organized for Parties in this region to support their efforts to implement the E-waste Amendments to the Basel Convention (decision BC-15/18), which became effective on 1 January 2025. The workshop also seeks to promote the effective control of transboundary movements of e-waste and strengthen Parties’ capacities for prevention and combatting illegal traffic. The workshop will take place from 3 to 5 February 2026 in Bratislava, Slovakia.

The workshop is financed by the generous contribution of Switzerland.

Organizers: The workshop is organized by the Secretariat of the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm (BRS) conventions with support from the Basel Convention Regional Center in Slovakia.

Meeting objectives: The objectives of the workshop include increasing the knowledge and skills of the target audience on the following:

  • Implementation and in-depth understanding of obligations and procedures under the Basel Convention and E-waste Amendments, including transboundary movements of e-waste, and tools available to support Parties’ efforts in the Eastern European region;
  • Classification of e-waste;
  • Dealing with suspected cases of illegal traffic in e-waste;
  • Raising awareness of customs about upcoming changes in the regulatory trade control regime;
  • Experience sharing between Parties.

Target audience: Competent Authorities of the Parties to the Basel Convention and customs administrations in the Asia-Pacific region.
