Illegal Traffic Take-Back

The Committee is to review parties' implementation of and compliance with the take back provision set forth in paragraph 2 of Article 9 of the Convention, including the difficulties faced by parties, and develop a guidance document based on best practices and suggesting a harmonized approach to the implementation of this provision.

The Committee considered this matter during its ninth meeting and proceeding with the development of guidance on the take back provision, based, among other things on responses received from Parties to a questionnaire on their implementation of and compliance with the take back provision set forth in paragraph 2 of Article 9 of the Basel Convention. The Committee agreed to make the draft publicly available and to invite Parties, Basel Convention Regional Centres and others to comment thereon.
