Format: The first part of the seventh meeting of the expert working group was convened face-to-face. Registered members or observers not in a position to participate in person in the meeting received, upon request to the Secretariat, an online viewer access allowing them to follow the meeting without the right to intervene. Viewers were not included in the list of participants to the meeting. The second part of the seventh meeting will convene face-to-face with the possibility to follow the meeting online without the right to intervene.
Highlights: During the first part of its seventh meeting and in line with decision BC-17/16, the expert working group continued to develop draft recommendations on the review of Annexes I and III, taking into account the comments received from Parties and observers on its draft recommendations (status as at 2 December 2023) and discussions at the seventeenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties, for consideration by the Open-ended Working Group at its fifteenth meeting and the Conference of the Parties at its eighteenth meeting.
During the second part of its seventh meeting, the expert working group will resume its work in line with the guidance provided by the Open-ended Working Group at its fifteenth meeting. Accordingly, the expert working group will continue its work on developing draft recommendations on the review of Annexes I and III to the Basel Convention, taking into account comments provided prior to, and the discussions at the fifteenth meeting of the Open-ended Working Group, as well as the comments received by 31 August 2026 for consideration by the Conference of the Parties at its eighteenth meeting.
