The activities undertaken by the Expert Working Group on the review of Annexes during the biennium 2026-2027 are based on mandate set out in decision BC-17/16.
By its decision BC-17/16 the Conference of the Parties, among other things:
- Welcomes the progress made by the expert working group on the review of annexes in its review of Annexes I and III;
- Requests the expert working group to continue to develop draft recommendations on the review of Annexes I and III, taking into account the comments received from Parties and observers on its draft recommendations (status as at 1 December 2023) and discussions at the seventeenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties, for consideration by the Open-ended Working Group at its fifteenth meeting and the Conference of the Parties at its eighteenth meeting.
The expert working group convened the first part of its seventh meeting in Geneva on 24 to 26 November 2025. In follow up to this meeting, in a 29 January 2026 letter, the Secretariat made available to Parties and observers the outcome of the expert working group meeting: The revised draft recommendations on the review of Annexes I and III (status 26 November 2026) with an invitation to provide comments by 16 March 2026.
