The Media Day in Almaty, Kazakhstan for the Occasion of the World Environment Day

In June 2025, the BRS-funded pilot project on plastic waste in remote and mountainous areas near Almaty, Kazakhstan, was featured by UNEP for the World Environment Day 2025. The project led to the installation of waste collection bins, recycling partnerships, and awareness activities in Ayusai National Park, resulting in over 4,300 kg of waste collected over 6 months and a visible reduction in plastic pollution since the completion of the project. The initiative continues to deliver lasting impact and was highlighted during a media visit by 24 journalists from major Kazakh outlets.
