The Small Intersessional Working Group (SIWG) resumed its work from 21 to 22 September 2026 in Geneva, to finalize the report on further options on improving the functioning of the Prior Informed Consent (PIC) procedure under the Convention. The SIWG reached agreement on a package of 15 options that could be considered by the Conference of the Parties at its eighteenth meeting in April 2027.

The Committee met in Geneva from 18 to 21 June 2026, and during this first part of its meeting considered all the activities of its work programme for 2026-2027, which included the consideration of specific submissions, general issues of compliance and implementation under the Convention, and its draft 2028-2029 work programme.
