Highlights: The Committee is expected to consider all the activities of its work programme for 2026-2027, which include the consideration of specific submissions, general issues of compliance and implementation under the Convention, and its draft 2028-2029 work programme.
Under its general review mandate, the Committee will consider the activities of its work programme aimed at improving implementation and compliance with national reporting, the development of legal frameworks, preventing and combating illegal traffic, review of guidance, improve implementation of and compliance with Article 6 (PIC procedure), country contacts and enhanced cooperation with the Compliance Committees of the Rotterdam Convention and Stockholm Convention.
In this regard, the Committee is expected to hold a joint session on 19 June 2026 with the fourth meetings of the Compliance Committee of the Rotterdam Convention and Compliance Committee of the Stockholm Convention, respectively.
The meeting will be convened back to back with the fifteenth meeting of the Open-ended Working Group.
