The small intersessional working group established under the strategic framework for the implementation of the Basel Convention for 2012-2021 continues its work and is open to all Parties, inviting representation of the five regional groups of the United Nations and to observers, including the Basel Convention regional and coordinating centres. The small intersessional working group is to develop a draft renewed strategic framework.
The Chair of the Small Intersessional Working Group is Mr. Zaghloul Samhan from the State of Palestine.
Canada serves as the lead country of the activities of the working group.

The small intersessional working group operates by electronic means and will hold one part of its fourth meeting face to face in October 2024, thanks to the generous financial contribution from the Government of Japan.
