Highlights: The small intersessional working group on the strategic framework for the implementation of the Basel Convention for 2012–2021 held its third meeting in two parts: an online part on 2-3 November 2022 and a face-to-face part on 24-25 February 2023.
At the online part of its meeting, the working group considered and revised draft findings and recommendations to improve, as appropriate, the strategic framework for the period 2012–2021 developed by the lead country, Canada.
The draft findings and recommendations were subsequently revised by the small intersessional working group and presented to the Open-ended Working Group at its thirteenth meeting.
At the face-to-face part of its meeting, the small intersessional working group considered the outcomes from the Open-ended Working Group at its thirteenth meeting of its consideration of the draft findings and recommendations. The small intersessional working group developed a revised version of the recommendations to improve the strategic framework for presentation to the sixteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties. The face-to-face part of the meeting was held thanks to the generous financial support provided by the Government of Japan.
