At its sixteenth meeting, the COP agreed to discuss at its seventeenth meeting whether to develop technical guidelines on the environmentally sound management of rubber wastes, waste parings and scraps of rubber and whether to include the issue in the work programme of the Open-ended Working Group for the biennium 2026–2027.

The Open-ended Working Group agreed to invite Parties and others to submit further comments by 31 March 2023 on whether the technical guidelines for the environmentally sound management of rubber wastes and waste parings and scrap of rubber should be developed, for consideration by the Conference of the Parties at its sixteenth meeting.
