A second call for proposals for pilot projects under the PWP was issued in January 2022, with a deadline in April 2022.
Key facts
- 18 pilot projects were selected under the second call for proposals, subject to the availability of funding (see here for overview of the projects). Funding was made available for the implementation of 15 projects in total. Further information on the selection process is available below.
- The projects were implemented in 29 countries in Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe and Latin America and the Caribbean.
- Budgets ranged from USD 100,000 to 500,000.
- Duration: 12-24 months.
- Funded by the governments of Germany, Norway and the United States of America.
Implementing partners
As per the modalities, the pilot projects selected were implemented by Parties to the Basel Convention, Basel and Stockholm Convention Regional and Coordinating Centres and not-for-profit entities.
Selection process
The second call for pilot project proposals was launched in January 2022. The proposals received were systematically assessed by the steering group (comprised of the co-chairs of the PWP working group and project groups) using the template included in the modalities. Based on the completed assessment, the steering group selected and prioritized 18 pilot projects, taking into account the financial resources available.
