Side events are a platform for Parties (including subsidiary bodies), and observers to share knowledge, build capacity, network and exchange on experience in the implementation of the Basel Convention.

Up to 12 online side events can be organized on 2 September 2020: four side events in the morning (up to two side events in parallel at 9.00 am and at 11.00 am GMT+2), four side events in the afternoon (up to two side events in parallel at 2.00 pm and at 4.00 pm GMT +2), and four side events in the evening (up to two side events in parallel at 6.00 pm and at 8.00 pm GMT +2). The application deadline to hold online side events during the online segment of the twelfth meeting of the Open-ended Working Group (OEWG-12) is Friday, 7 August 2020.

Depending on their status, they can register in one of the following categories: Party representatives, observers (Non-Party States, UN bodies, other observer bodies and agencies, e.g. intergovernmental organizations, regional centres, non-governmental organizations).
