Within its mandate to improve the implementation of and compliance with the Convention, the Committee was requested to develop guidance on how to integrate action to address needs under the Basel Convention into the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Frameworks.
By its decision BC-16/14, the Conference of the Parties mandated the Committee to provide guidance, including through consultation with the Open-ended Working Group, for consideration by the Conference of the Parties at its seventeenth meeting, on how individual Parties can integrate action to address their needs under the Basel Convention into their United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Frameworks.

Guidance on how individual Parties can integrate action to address their needs under the Basel Convention into their United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Frameworks developed thanks to financial support from Japan was made available to Parties, observers, United Nations Resident Coordinators, UNEP representatives in United Nations Country Teams, UNEP and FAO on 9 April 2024 with an invitation to provide comments by 31 May 2024.
